drift wood is fun to experiment with

Last time I visited Hawaii, my Uncle just started this amazing project. At the time he raised his own koi and began to build a hot house and hydroponics garden. Now I am back, a little over a year later and there are things growing everywhere! Flowers, cantaloupe, strawberries, asparagus, tomatoes, and more! It's awesome to see someone so dedicated to a project like this, learning step by step, meeting failure and still prospering. I can't wait to learn more about it and be around to see things grow and change!

I made it back to the Hawaiian islands.
It is surreal. It is beautiful. I feel loved.
Family is such an essential part to being.
I can't wait to feel complete with my partner here.
One day at a time, feeling blessed and alive.

THE HUNT

Carcharodon subauriculatus (Extinct Megatooth Shark) or Carcharodon carcharias (Great White Shark)
Hemipristis serra (Snaggletooth Shark)
After a two day trip, fossil hunting, we found 330 baby sharks teeth! 2 adolescent teeth, 5 bone fragments, 10 ray teeth pieces, and 5 giant clam shells - all ranging from 3-10 million years old. It was an amazing experience that intrigued a desire to learn and understand more about the past and how we live our present day lives. The few years that I have known about Calvert Cliffs, MD - I could have never imagined or expected the experience we were able to have. The weather was fall-like, the beaches were basically empty, and the people we were able to interact with at the sites were nice and informative. I am still trying to identify the teeth, but as far as I can tell - the teeth came from the following sharks: Carcharodon subauriculatus (Extinct Megatooth Shark), Hemipristis serra (Snaggletooth Shark), Galeocerdo aduncus (Extinct Tiger Shark), Notorhynchus cepedianus (Cow Shark), Negaprison sp. (Lemon Shark), Carcharias sp. (Sand Tiger Shark), Carcharhinus (Requiem Shark), Isurus sp. (Mako Shark), Sphyrna sp. (Hammerhead Shark), Galeocerdo contortus (Extinct Tiger Shark), Alopias latidens (Thresher Shark), and I just identified a porpoise tooth! I hope to one day go back and find more, but until then - I will be obsessing over what we have found/turning into a fossil freak!

A-B+C

ANNIE AND I HAVE BEEN PURSUING OUR OWN ARTISTIC ENDEVOURS BEFORE I MOVED TO RICHMOND, BUT SINCE I HAVE BEEN AROUND, WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WE COULD COLLABORATE ON AND FINALLY - WE FIGURED IT OUT! WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON THIS NEW POUCH LINE, WHICH I WILL BE SELLING WHILE I AM IN HAWAII AT FARMERS MARKETS + BOUTIQUES (AND ON ETSY) ALONG WITH OTHER HANDMADE PIECES. ANNIE HAS THE AMAZING ABILITY TO LOOK AT ANYTHING AND REPLICATE IT - WHETHER IT'S WITH A PEN OR PENCIL, OR WITH A LITTLE WATERCOLOR OR COLLAGE MATERIALS - HER TALENT IS UNDENIABLE. IT IS SO EXCITING TO BRING OUR TALENTS/PASSIONS TOGETHER AND MAKE PRODUCTS THAT WE ARE BOTH EQUALLY DEDICATED TO AND IN LOVE WITH. PICTURED ABOVE IS THE FIRST PIECE OF THE NEW LINE OF POUCHES. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT ELSE WE CAN COME UP WITH :)

I'm so into this. I wish I could go to London and get the full on experience, even better - have one of these myself. This place reminded me of my Uncle who started his own hydroponic garden about a year ago. He raised all the koi and has started growing cucumbers and plants for herbal teas. Really rad. This is keeping it real. Check out these two links:
